Marchant EEG9
Probably the cheapest machine I ever bought on ebay. It cost me 5$. The seller was obviously quite pissed that shipping cost over 100$. Then I got hit with import duty and VAT when it arrived, siply because of the cost of shipping. I have never tried to plug this machine in, but the status of the keyboard and controls lead me to believe that something is blocked somewhere. One day I'll disassemble it and try to figure out what is wrong, but I'd really like a hand crank before that will happen. It is a very impressive machine though, dating to the late 20's or early 30's. I would very much like the hand-cranked H8 equivalent machine - the only issue is they are so heavy to ship from the US!
The machine has a Westinghouse 1/20 HP electric motor, fashioned especially for the Marchant Calculating Machine Company. It runs at 1725 rpm in the US, here, at 50 Hz, it would run 1438 rpm.
Last time it was serviced was on Nov. 9th 1949, as written on the inside of the cover.
