Brunsviga Nova I

Well, if I fell into the trap of collecting Brunsviga machines of later vintage, I might as well try to obtain some rare ones. This is another white raven from the Nova stable, the Nova I. Alleged number built - 375. One of the first Brunsvigas with back transfer. There had been the model N with back transfer in the range of machines with non-moving input pins, but even less of those were built than of even the rarest Novas. Backtransfer in this machine operates by resetting the input register, pulling the lever at the far back left forward, and then clearing the result register. There are plenty of interlocks provided, and you can also see when they are active, because the register in question will show a red window on the side when it is being cleared. In addition, there is a green indicator next to the revolution counter to indicate that it has been reset. The peculiar metal hand grip is original - there was a small range of machines at the beginning of production which sported this grip instead of the bakelite one. All in all, a very wel thought-out machine, that is still a little bit heavier and bulkier than the later ZK and RK range, but the characteristic basics for the "new system" are all there - including the revolution counter, which now sits all the way at the top - where it's going to stay until the advent of the Brunsviga RM.
