Bluestar
I could not resist and bought another Bluestar, this one a small one with 13 places in the result register, and no tens' carry in the revolution counter. The machine arrived a little worse for wear though, with the carriage shift thumb buttons both broken off, as well as one of the clearing cranks.
So I had to repair them. As you remember from my other machine, this machine, is very, very similar to an Odhner, an Odhner 7 in this case. So also the carriage shift is. Here's the repair...
As received:
Top of the carriage movement knobs filed flat:
center punched - turns out it's just an interference fit:
pins drilled out :
holes drilled and pins inserted in the thumb knobs themselves:
And this is what it looks like when it's all back together:
N° 131623 ...
The serial number is 131623, which could be machine 1623 of this model, which would thn be model 13 ... if the trend seen in my other Japanese calculatorsholds true, this may actually be the case ...
